From this example I can see that Rudy’s has a country store, and I can click citysearch.com, yelp.com, urbanspoon.com and other sites in order to read reviews and get a good idea of what other consumers have experienced there. Not long ago, the same search query would return several different links with information about Rudy’s in different sections of the SERP’s (here’s a screenshot of what it used to look like). Now with Google Places, information is collected and grouped together to make it easier to understand and compare the various businesses in your local area.</p>
<p>Place Search results are appearing as you type in real time on Google as they attempt to predict what you’re looking for locally. Also, you’ll find a new link for “Places” in the left-hand side of your computer screen for the local search results pages so you can toggle these results whenever you need them. For example, if you type a query for a national term such as “video games”, I love to go to arcades, but a search for “video games” doesn’t automatically show me the Google Place Search results. If I click “Places” I am presented with the new look and local results.</p>

Google now automatically identifies when websites are talking about physical places and cluster’s links even if they fail to provide a physical addresses and are using different names such as “Rudy’s bbq” is also recognized as “rudys bar-b-que”.</p>

If your website is optimized properly, and within a couple months I have you ranked for a dozen terms related to your niche you will not have to spend a dime on a paid campaign. Your SEO will keep you positioned for potentially years to come and all the while your competitors are paying hundreds of dollars on AdWords and paying twenty bucks a pop for &#8220;so called&#8221; good leads from places like ServiceMagic and YellowPages online. With the power of good SEO you pay once and sit back and take care of running the company, as you should be.</p>
<p>So once again, what is SEO? Search engine optimization is utilizing the tools and methods while leveraging your website to make your site show up in the top of the SERP&#8217;s. Getting yourself on the first page, and better yet in the top half of SERP&#8217;s will ensure that your site will generate a public awareness and subsequently generate more targeted traffic, traffic that can generate leads for your business as well as sales.</p>

<p>The Internet is no longer an untapped resource for business owners, as it has been in the past.  Competition is extremely heavy in most industries, and now seems like just about every small business has a website. Those early days of being successful online simply because a company was one of a few in their niche with a website are long, long gone.<br />

With so much competition online already and more coming daily, how can a small businesses adapt?<br />

<p>Whats really important is the &#8220;on-site&#8221; SEO that is done before the site is even launched. Often times this doesn&#8217;t happen but if you can remember a few key elements it will help you out tremendously. If your website isn&#8217;t built in a way the search engines can read the contents then you aren&#8217;t going to rank at all. There are certain standards for web development and most programers are really good at what they do but, the developers make the website functional&#8230; add navigation, add pages, products, interactive video, sign up forms etc.</p>
<p>SEO has to come in and find a way to let the search engines know what each element is within the contents of each web page of the website. This can be everything from the navigational bar down to the footer, each element can be tagged in a way the search  engines can find it, index it and then display the page if relevant to a query made in a search box. Both schools complement each other but creating code and building websites is an art in itself and Search Engine Optimization is something completely different.</p>

PPC has very little overhead compared to traditional advertising and  therefore generates a greater return on your investment. Analytical tools and sophisticated tracking software allows you to test and tweak your pay per click campaign in real time, all the while minimizing your cost per acquisition.</p>
<p>PPC isn&#8217;t by any means a “set and forget” marketing funnel. I&#8217;ll develop a highly targeted, effective ppc or impression campaign with niche keyword selection, competitive and industry research along with a management process devoted to bottom line results.</p>
<p>Target and enguage clients while their in the buying mood and actively searching for the services and/or products you provide. With PPC, your potential clients can find your ad alongside the relevant search engine results page (SERPs) created by their query.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t think you have to start with a huge budget, you simply get billed when someone clicks your ad. You get to decide what you’re willing to pay for each time your advertisement is clicked upon and you can put a restriction on the limit of spend per day as well as the time of day your ad&#8217;s will show. Google Adwords makes it easy for the local business owner to level the playing field when it comes to large scale campaigns on a small budget.</p>
<p>Unlike traditional advertising, with Google, you are able to carefully watch your campaigns effectiveness and see which of the ad&#8217;s and keywords are generating the most clicks as well as which creative is producing the desired sign-ups, leads or sales. PPC campaigns should be constantly refined to enhance ad copy, keyword phrases and website landing page elements. A-B split testing should always be incorporated to continuously improve  your conversion rates and overall ROI.</p>
<p>Comprehensive research finds that search advertising continues to be the most cost-effective marketing mediums available today and is a small fraction of the price of direct mail, magazine ad&#8217;s or yellow pages listings like the phone book.</p>
<p>When it comes to running a local ppc campaign, knowing your market and the terms  that your typical consumer would use to find you is key. A great way to find out what potential business you could get or see whats working in your industry is to do some competitive research. Check out your competition and see whats working for them. An easy tool to use is <a title="Keyword Spy" href="http://affiliateprogram.keywordspy.com/n/cY5Kvq1BAAMWTUMAAAbGQgAAYNZmMQA-A/" target="_blank">Keywordspy</a> This little research tool works wonders to discover little gems you wouldn&#8217;t think your typical buyer would type&#8230; sometimes you can find 1 and 2 cent terms to load your campaign with.</p>

As you might notice this campaign has generated over 17 million impressions and over 50,000 clicks to the website at an average of 7 cents a click. It isn&#8217;t always necessary to run a campaign with images but it certainly helps with the company branding and recognition, as well as giving a professional polish to your advertising. They always said an image says a thousand words, but a properly designed banner can invoke emotion :)</div>

<div>The screen shot below gives you a view of a 4% Click Thru Rate (CTR). Average is actually .44% if your running a campaign in the content/Google partners network because there are so many sites that are niche specific around the net. The dips you see are campaign adjustments, rewriting ad&#8217;s to improve the performance, adding and deleting keywords and typically weekends are slow for just about any campaign I have run. But even though the weekends were slow, the 3 million impressions and 100,000 plus visitors to the site in a couple months more than made up for it.</div>

<div class="mceTemp">Pets Head to Tail was a tough contract for me because of the crazy competition, competing with PetSmart and PetCo isn&#8217;t something to be taken lightly. With hundreds if not thousands of pages of content to optimize, you really have to drill down from a category level and work out from there. If possible, tag all the images and products with descriptions as the site is being built. Since eCommerce sites update their products so frequently it is helpful to have some static pages about your niche and or industry to leverage your main keywords on. </div>

<p>There are many good reasons for e-mail marketing. Send a well thought-out and timing emails and you can watch sales leap. Unfortunately, many businesses get addicted to sending e-mail that produce immediate sales, when low numbers, wonder why.</p>
<p>For this reason it is important to set your goal for e-mail marketing. What you want and expect from sending your e-mail? Once they figure that out you can measure the effectiveness of these goals.</p>
<p>Goals that are most effective?</p>

<p>First of all, most business emails. According to eMarketer, the average rate is open to 19.1% e-marketing. That leaves 80% send was not opened. However, there is a better chance to see your prospect either your company name in the from line and read the subject line, but chose not to open your email.  Every time I arrive in my email inbox means you&#8217;re making your prospect knows you. For this reason it is very important to create consistency with your subject line, because it builds each subject line a little more than brand awareness and identity.</p>
<p>When your e-mail is open (and read), it is important that you provide them with information they expect from your brand.</p>
<p>Objective No. 3 most effective <strong>increase sales revenues.</strong> this is easier said than done, and it requires coordination between email and landing page presentation. Read the case studies is one of the best ways to learn how to do this effectively.
